Charysse Tia Harper
Charysse Tia Harper hails from Oxnard, California, where her passion for storytelling began. She earned her undergraduate degrees in Cinema and Journalism from the prestigious University of Southern California. Furthering her education, Charysse obtained a Master’s in International Relations and Management & Leadership from Regent’s University London in the UK. With her roots in Trinidad, she has dedicated a significant portion of her work to exploring and celebrating her cultural heritage. Her acclaimed projects include the award-winning film "The Other Side of Carnival" (2010), "T&T 50 in Fifteen" (2012), and "Panomundo: Part 1: The Evolution of the Steelpan" (2015).
In 2014, her documentary "12 Months" gained international recognition, being showcased at numerous film festivals across North America, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, and Europe. Charysse is deeply committed to cultural exploration and has lived and worked in various countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Trinidad & Tobago. Currently, she is producing "Not In Our Culture," a series that delves into tribal weddings in Nigeria, and is working on a short documentary titled "Insurance: Putting Newark on the Map," commemorating Newark’s 350th anniversary. Additionally, she is in the post-production phase of "Panomundo Part 2: Pan Worldwide," anticipated for release in October 2016. Presently, Charysse resides in New York City, where she continues her creative endeavors.
