Shaan Sharma

Shaan Sharma is a prominent SAG-AFTRA actor and casting professional, recognized for his extensive work in both commercial and theatrical productions. Over the past four years, he has successfully secured roles in more than 30 major television series and films, along with 20 national commercials. With nearly a decade of experience as a top Casting Session Director for 45 casting directors in Los Angeles, Shaan has overseen the casting of over 400 projects.

In addition to his acting career, Shaan is a seasoned contributor to Backstage, where he has published over 50 articles offering insight and guidance to fellow actors. He is the author of the highly regarded book, "Commercial Acting in L.A.: A Session Director’s Guide," available at Samuel French and various online platforms. As an on-camera acting instructor and private coach, he operates the Shaan Sharma On-Camera Acting Studio and co-founded the Westside On-Camera Acting Studio with veteran casting director Gabrielle Schary. He also serves as the lead educator for SAG-AFTRA's Los Angeles Member Education and chairs the commercial programming for the SAG-AFTRA Los Angeles Conservatory Committee, further emphasizing his commitment to the industry.

Originally from Minnesota, Shaan began his acting journey there, accumulating over 100 on-camera projects and four national commercials before moving to Los Angeles in 2007. His dedication to protecting aspiring talent from exploitation was evident through his organization of the Fresh Face Showcase from 2003 to 2006, an event aimed at educating newcomers in the entertainment business. Today, Shaan is regarded as one of the most respected figures in acting education, blending his roles as a working actor, casting director, and writer into a comprehensive approach to the craft.
