Makrand Deshpande
Makarand Deshpande, born on March 6, 1966, is a versatile Indian film actor, writer, and director, known for his contributions across multiple film industries, including Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Telugu, and Malayalam cinema, as well as Indian Theatre. He frequently takes on supporting and significant roles in films such as Jungle, Sarfarosh, Swades, Makdee, and Darna Zaroori Hai, often portraying characters like drunks, travelers, and comedic figures. Deshpande has also directed more than five feature films.
Most of his artistic endeavors, however, are rooted in theatre. He has penned an impressive portfolio of around 350 full-length plays and at least 12 short plays, and he is the founder of his own theatre troupe, Ansh. Known for his distinctive personality, Deshpande is recognized for his eclectic clothing and hairstyles. He resides in Vile Parle, Mumbai, and received his early education at Shri BPM School. His unique approach to art and performance continues to make a significant impact on the Indian cultural landscape.
