Gwen Watford
Gwen Watford (10 September 1927 — 6 February 1994) was a distinguished English actress known for her work across film, stage, and television. A native of London, she honed her craft at the Embassy Theatre and the prestigious Old Vic theatre. In 1952, she tied the knot with fellow actor Richard Bebb.
Watford made her cinematic debut in 1949, portraying Lady Usher in the horror classic The Fall of the House of Usher. Her film career spanned several decades, featuring notable performances in various productions. Among her significant roles were appearances in the chilling thriller Never Take Sweets from a Stranger (1960), the drama The Very Edge (1962), and the epic historical film Cleopatra (1963). She also delivered a powerful performance in Cry Freedom (1987), which highlighted her range as an actress.
In addition to her film work, Watford made a significant impact on television, appearing in various series that showcased her versatility.
