Rick Melick
**Rick Melick: A Musical Journey**
Rick Melick embarked on his musical career alongside pop icon Andy Gibb, launching him into a vibrant life of touring across Australia and beyond. With a career that has flourished for over thirty years, Rick has collaborated with a diverse array of artists, including international stars like Jeff ‘Skunk’ Baxter from Steely Dan and the Doobie Brothers, as well as Glenn Shorrock of the Little River Band. He has also shared stages with renowned Australian musicians such as Dragon, Jon Stevens, Stevie Wright, Marc Hunter, Brian Cadd, Doug Parkinson, and Jimmy Little. In addition to his collaborative work, Rick has performed countless solo shows in both Australia and the United States.
One of Rick's most cherished experiences was his collaboration with the legendary John Denver, which led to the heartfelt orchestral recording of the hit single "For You." From 1985 to 1991, he was the managing partner of Reel Time, a recording studio in Sydney that became a hub for Australia's top musical talent. This experience honed his production and technical skills, paving the way for his continued success in smaller, more intimate recording environments.
In the late 1980s, Rick co-wrote the theme song for the 26-part television series "Willing & Abel," and he currently provides the theme music for the long-running sports show "Escaping With ET." His country single "Where Do Old Cowboys Go," which he co-wrote, achieved seven weeks at #1 on the Australian charts and received a nomination for the prestigious Golden Guitar award, recognizing excellence in Australian country music.
