Cyndi Lauper
Cynthia Ann Stephanie "Cyndi" Lauper is a multifaceted American artist, recognized for her work as a singer, songwriter, actress, and advocate for LGBT rights, with a career that has flourished for over forty years. Her first solo album, *She's So Unusual* (1983), quickly became a commercial triumph, making history as the first debut female album to feature four top-five hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including iconic tracks like "Girls Just Want to Have Fun," "Time After Time," "She Bop," and "All Through the Night." This remarkable achievement earned her the Best New Artist accolade at the 27th Grammy Awards in 1985. Lauper’s success continued with her sophomore album, *True Colors* (1986), which spawned the chart-topping title track and "Change of Heart," earning her two Grammy nominations in 1987.
Since 1989, Lauper has released nine studio albums, each receiving varying levels of critical response, alongside numerous other creative ventures. Her latest album, *Memphis Blues*, was Grammy-nominated and became the year’s leading blues album, dominating the Billboard blues charts for 13 weeks. In 2011, she published an autobiography that candidly addressed her experiences with child abuse and depression, reaching New York Times Best Seller status.
