Voytek Frykowski
Wojciech Frykowski, known as Voytek, was born in 1936 in Poland to Jan Frykowski and Teofila Stefanowska. He grew up alongside his two brothers, Jerzy Kajetan and Maciej. Frykowski pursued an education in the textile industry, obtaining a degree from the Textile Faculty at the Technical University of Lodz after graduating from the Textile Technician School in Lodz.
In 1958, he married Ewa Maria Morelle, a model from Lodz, and they welcomed their son Bartek in 1959. He later entered into a brief marriage with renowned Polish songwriter Agnieszka Osiecka in 1963; however, their union ended in divorce the following year without any children.
Coming from a prominent and affluent family, Frykowski had a strong affinity for the film industry, which eventually led him to form a friendship with acclaimed director Roman Polanski. This connection also introduced him to Abigail Folger, the heiress to the Folger Coffee fortune. Driven by aspirations of becoming a screenwriter, he relocated to the United States to pursue his dreams in Hollywood.
Tragically, on August 8, 1969, Frykowski, along with Folger and their friends Sharon Tate and Jay Sebring, were murdered by members of the Charles Manson cult at Polanski's residence. After his death, his remains were cremated and interred at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Łódź, Poland.
