Andrea Canning
Andrea Mead Canning, born on December 10, 1972, is a prominent Canadian-American journalist and writer. In October 2012, she became a correspondent for Dateline NBC and has since made significant contributions across various NBC News platforms, including Today, NBC Nightly News, and MSNBC. Additionally, she frequently serves as a fill-in anchor on Today and Weekend Today.
Prior to her role at NBC, Canning worked as a correspondent for ABC News from 2004 until April 2012. During her tenure, she reported on a wide range of topics, including the White House, Congress, the Supreme Court, and the Iraq War, for ABC's affiliate NewsOne. She gained notable recognition for her coverage of significant events, such as Hurricane Katrina and the Casey Anthony trial. Her profile notably surged after her exclusive interview with Charlie Sheen on 20/20 on February 28, 2011.
While at ABC, she also contributed to programs like Good Morning America, Nightline, World News With Diane Sawyer, and 20/20, and anchored early morning broadcasts like World News Now and America This Morning.
Since joining NBC News, Canning has continued to excel as a journalist and has also ventured into screenwriting for Hallmark Channel and Lifetime movies. She made her acting debut as a news anchor in the Ruby Herring Mystery movie series, starting in 2019.
