Adel Adham

1 title Acting Mar 08, 1928 Died: Feb 09, 1996 Alexandria, Egypt

Adel Adham was a prominent Egyptian actor, born in Alexandria in 1928. Initially drawn to the world of acting, he hesitated early in his career after receiving discouragement from the famed actor Anwar Wagdy, who deemed him unsuitable for the profession. This led him to pursue a career in dance, although his presence on the silver screen was minimal during this time.

In the 1950s, Adham transitioned into the cotton trade, but his life took a pivotal turn following nationalization policies in Egypt. Instead of pursuing emigration, he rekindled his passion for acting after meeting director Ahmed Diaa in 1964. His comeback role was in the film "Am I Crazy?" which marked the beginning of a prolific chapter in his career.

Adel Adham went on to become a well-respected figure in Egyptian cinema, appearing in a variety of films throughout the years. Some of his most notable works include "Gossip Over the Nile," "The Most Dangerous Man in the World," "Quail and Autumn," "The Sad Night Bird," "The Devil Preaches," "The Unknown," and "A Supermarket."

His contributions to the industry have left a lasting legacy, though his life was cut short when he passed away in 1996 at the age of 67 due to severe pneumonia. Adham is remembered for his enduring impact on Egyptian cinema and the rich body of work he created.
