Giuseppe Schillaci
Giuseppe Schillaci, hailing from Catania, Sicily, embarked on his acting journey under the guidance of Manuela Metri and Fioretta Mari. He made a significant mark in Italian theater, notably performing in "La Scapricciata," directed by Metri and featuring Mari. Schillaci gained further recognition through his roles in popular television series, portraying Rosario Lauricella in "Il Commissario Montalbano," directed by Alberto Sironi, and Remo Pennino in "Squadra Antimafia."
In 2010, Schillaci's talent caught the attention of Anna Strasberg during a seminar in Rome, leading to a scholarship at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Institute in New York and West Hollywood, where he resided for eight years. In 2013, he showcased his musical abilities as Tom Collins in the LA production of "RENT," directed by Troy Rintala.
His diverse portfolio includes playing Mr. Jacob Engstrand in Ibsen's "Ghosts," starring as "Luigi" in the short film "The Dilemma," and featuring in a Kia commercial as "The Man with the Pink Scarf." Schillaci has also ventured into directing, winning accolades for his short film "Corri," a finalist at the Tulipani di Seta Nera Film Festival in Rome, and "With Out Words" in Los Angeles.
Returning to Italy in 2016, he reprised his role in "Il Commissario Montalbano" as Salvatore Niscemi and appeared in "Maltese il romanzo del commissario." His recent projects include "La Mossa Del Cavallo" and the movie "Il mio corpo vi seppellirà ." Schillaci is set to appear in the upcoming film "Persian Lessons," directed by Vadim Perleman, where he plays Marco, an Italian Jew.
