Stephanie Street was born and raised in Singapore, where her passion for storytelling began. She pursued her education in English literature at Cambridge University, later honing her craft on a prestigious scholarship at the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA).

Throughout her career, Stephanie has made a significant impact on both national and international theatre, particularly in the realm of new writing. Her collaborations with esteemed directors such as Peter Gill, Daniel Evans, and Rufus Norris have resulted in memorable performances. Among her notable roles are Diana Ingram in the acclaimed production of Quiz, Marianne in Constellations at the Singapore Repertory Theatre, and Asha in Behind the Beautiful Forevers, directed by Norris. Her performance as Abi in Nightwatchman garnered her a nomination for Best Solo Performance at the 2012 WhatsOnStage Awards.

In addition to her theatre work, Stephanie has a strong presence in television, appearing in regular and leading roles across major networks including BBC, ITV, Channel 4, and Sky. As a playwright, her debut play, Sisters, re-opened the Sheffield Crucible Studio in 2010 to rave reviews. Her adaptation of Mohsin Hamid's The Reluctant Fundamentalist received nominations for both the Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award and the Carol Tambour Best of Edinburgh Award. In 2017, she was commissioned by the Singapore International Festival of the Arts to write Dragonflies, which won Best New Script at the Straits Times Life! Awards in 2018. Currently, Stephanie also writes a monthly column for The Stage and serves as the board lead for Inclusion and Diversity at Chichester Festival Theatre, in addition to co-founding ACT FOR CHANGE.
