Stavros Xenidis
Stavros Xenidis (1924 – 2 November 2008) was a Greek actor whose career spanned five decades across theatre, film, and television. Born in Turkey, he pursued his passion for acting at Karolos Koun’s Theatro Technis, making his stage debut in 1944. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, he became a staple of Kostas Moussouris’ theatrical company, solidifying his reputation in Greek theatre.
Xenidis appeared in over 70 films, often in supporting roles. He made his cinematic debut in *The Song of Pain* (1953) and delivered his final film performance in *Red White* (1993). His television work began in 1971, with his last small-screen appearance in 1994. While he never sought the spotlight, his consistent presence made him a familiar face to Greek audiences.
After suffering multiple strokes, Xenidis passed away in an Athens retirement home on 2 November 2008. His legacy endures through a body of work that quietly shaped modern Greek performance.
