Nathan Purdee
Nathan Purdee, born on August 6, 1950, in Tampa, Florida, is a distinguished American actor known for his compelling performances in daytime television. Growing up in a military family, Purdee experienced a nomadic childhood, living in various cities including Washington, D.C., Bakersfield, California, and Kaiserslautern, Germany, before completing his high school education in Denver, Colorado. He currently resides in Easton, Pennsylvania.
Purdee gained fame for his portrayal of Nathan Hastings, a mobster turned private investigator, on the CBS soap opera "The Young and the Restless," a role he inhabited from 1985 to 1992. As one of the first African American actors on the show, his presence helped to pave the way for greater diversity within the cast. Following his tenure on "Y&R," Purdee transitioned to the role of District Attorney Hank Gannon on ABC's "One Life to Live," where he captivated audiences from 1992 until 2003. In addition to his soap opera work, he appeared as Youngblood "Superfly" Priest in the film "The Return of Superfly," the concluding chapter of the iconic trilogy.
In a notable return, it was announced on February 11, 2009, that Purdee would reprise his role on "One Life to Live" later that April. Beyond acting, he is the president of Karmic Release Ltd., a multimedia production company, reflecting his commitment to the creative arts.
