Pamela Matthews, a proud member of the Cree from Sachigo Lake First Nation, has dedicated over three decades to the arts as an actor, director, filmmaker, editor, producer, and educator. Currently, she imparts her extensive knowledge of directing and performance at Ryerson University while also serving as a professor of Film/Video/Sound Design at Centennial College. Since 2002, she has played a pivotal role in teaching filmmaking through The American Indian Film Institute's Tribal Touring Program in San Francisco, where she has guided the production of around fifty short films.

Pamela earned her Master’s Degree in Film Production from York University after completing her undergraduate Film Studies at Ryerson University and graduating from the Ryerson Theatre School in 1989. Her academic excellence was recognized in 2003 when she received the Gold Medal for Outstanding Academic Achievement from Ryerson's Department of Film.

Her theatrical resume is extensive, encompassing roles as both an actor and director. She has graced stages nationwide, including the National Arts Centre and Alberta Theatre Projects, and in 2007, she showcased her talent in Margaret Atwood’s 'The Penelopiad' at the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-Upon-Avon, England. As a director, she has helmed productions for various notable institutions, including Magnus Theatre and Native Earth Performing Arts. Additionally, Pamela honed her directing skills at the prestigious Lincoln Center Theater in New York City and the Royal National Theatre in London.
