Kimiko Ikegami, born on January 16, 1959, is a renowned Japanese actress whose career spans several decades. Originally from Manhattan, New York, she relocated to Kyoto at the tender age of three. After completing her education at Horikoshi High School in Nakano, Tokyo, she pursued further studies at Tamagawa University. Kimiko hails from a distinguished line of kabuki actors, with her grandfather being the eighth Bandō Mitsugorō, her uncle the ninth (later known as Bandō Minosuke VII), and her cousin Bandō Yasosuke V, the tenth to carry the name. Inspired by her cousin, Kimiko embarked on an acting career.

Her television journey began in 1975 with her role in the NHK series Maboroshi no Pen Friend, followed by a performance in Ai to Makoto on TV Tokyo that same year. She made her film debut in the same year with Hadashi no Seishun, produced by Shochiku. Kimiko's prominent roles in taiga dramas include Ōhime Kusa Moeru (1979), Chacha in Onna Taikō-ki (1981), and Lady Tsukiyama in Tokugawa Ieyasu (1983). She has also portrayed notable characters in jidaigeki series such as Sumi in NHK's Miyamoto Musashi (1988) and Nami in Chūshingura: Ketsudan no Toki (2003).

In addition to her acting, Kimiko recorded a song titled "Nagasarete," which served as the theme for the show Kiryūin Hanako no Shōgai in 1984. Her accolades include receiving the Japan Jewellery Association Best Dresser Award in 1990, highlighting her influential presence in both the film industry and fashion.
