Guy Gilles, originally named Guy Chiche, was a prominent French filmmaker born on August 25, 1938, and he passed away on February 3, 1996. Gilles made a significant impact on cinema with his debut feature, *L'Amour à la mer*, released in 1962, which showcased talents like Juliette Greco, Romy Schneider, and Jean-Pierre Léaud. He frequently collaborated with actor Patrick Jouan in several of his projects.

In addition to his work in film, Gilles ventured into television, contributing to notable series such as *Dim, Dam, Dom* and *Pour le plaisir*, which helped solidify his reputation in the French entertainment industry.

His later works include *Le Crime d'amour* (1982), featuring Richard Berry and Jacques Penot, and *Nuit docile* (1987). However, Gilles faced personal and professional challenges in the late 1980s after contracting AIDS, which hindered his ability to produce films. His final project, *Néfertiti, la fille du soleil*, was a struggle to complete and ultimately premiered posthumously in 1996.
