Bones Howe, an influential American record producer and recording engineer, made a significant mark on the music scene during the 1960s and 1970s, particularly within the sunshine pop genre. His career took off in 1965 with The Turtles' rendition of Bob Dylan's "It Ain't Me Babe." Howe went on to produce many of the chart-topping hits for iconic groups such as the 5th Dimension and the Association, cementing his reputation as a leading figure in the industry.

In addition to his work with pop acts, Howe is well-known for his collaborations with singer-songwriter Tom Waits. He produced and engineered nearly all of Waits' releases with Asylum Records, with several albums from this period being celebrated as some of Waits' finest work, with the notable exception of "Closing Time."

Howe's career began in 1956 when he started as an apprentice recording engineer at Radio Recorders. His talent quickly propelled him to the role of mixing engineer by the following year, where he had the opportunity to work with legendary artists such as Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis. Through his innovative techniques and artistic vision, Bones Howe has left an indelible imprint on the music industry, influencing generations of musicians and producers alike.
