Freeman Lusk was born in Huntington Park, California. He was raised in a family with a strong commitment to education and service; his father served as a Methodist minister, and his mother held the position of Vice Principal at John Adams Junior High School in Los Angeles. Lusk dedicated 27 years of his life to the United States Navy, ultimately retiring with the rank of commander. His diverse career also included a stint in television, where he hosted a show in Los Angeles titled Freedom Forum. In 1946, he made an attempt to enter politics by running for a seat in the U.S. Congress representing California's 46th district. Lusk completed his education at Huntington Park High School before attending the University of Southern California (USC). One of his notable roles in entertainment was his appearance in the film Funny Girl, where he portrayed the character of the Judge. He was a father to one son, John.
