Richard Berry
Richard Berry, born Richard Élie Benguigui on July 31, 1950, is a prominent French actor, film director, and screenwriter, recognized for his extensive contributions to cinema, having appeared in over 100 films since his debut in 1972. Notably, he starred in “The Violin Player,” which was featured at the 1994 Cannes Film Festival.
Berry has a rich personal life characterized by his relationships and family. He shares a daughter, Coline, born in 1976, with actress Catherine Hiegel. In 1984, he married singer and actress Jeane Manson, but their union ended in divorce two years later. With his ex-wife, photographer and actress Jessica Forde, he welcomed another daughter, actress Joséphine Berry, in 1992. Since 2009, Berry has been in a relationship with actress Pascale Louange, and they had a daughter together in 2014.
In a notable act of kindness, Berry made headlines in 2005 for donating a kidney to his sister, Marie Berry, who suffers from Alport syndrome, a genetic kidney disorder. His brother, Philippe Berry, is a sculptor and was previously married to actress Josiane Balasko.
However, Berry’s life has faced significant turmoil, particularly when, on February 2, 2021, his daughter Coline filed a complaint with Paris prosecutors alleging incest and sexual abuse against him. Berry responded publicly, claiming that the allegations had first emerged seven years prior during a family announcement.
