3 titles Acting May 10, 1953 Mission, Texas, USA

Merced Solis, widely recognized by his ring name Tito Santana, is a distinguished American professional wrestler and dedicated middle school educator. Known for his unwavering commitment to the role of a babyface throughout his wrestling career, Santana gained notable fame during his tenure with WWE from 1979 to 1993, with a brief hiatus in 1980 before returning in 1983. He achieved remarkable success in the ring by becoming a two-time WWE Intercontinental Heavyweight Champion and securing the WWE Tag Team Championship on two occasions.

In 1989, he triumphed in the King of the Ring tournament and showcased his talent at all of the inaugural nine WrestleMania events. Santana played a pivotal role in transitioning the promotion from the vibrant "Rock 'n Wrestling Connection" era of the '80s to the "New Generation" era of the '90s. His contributions to the sport were recognized when he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2004.

Interestingly, despite his Texan roots, Santana was often billed as hailing from "Tocula, Mexico," likely a misrepresentation of Toluca. Today, he continues to make appearances on the independent wrestling circuit, maintaining his connection to the sport that has defined much of his life.
