Vanda Lacerda
Vanda Lacerda, born Wanda Lacerda Pamplona on September 10, 1923, in Rio de Janeiro, was a prominent Brazilian actress celebrated for her significant contributions to theater and television. She embarked on her acting career in 1940 at Rádio Nacional, quickly establishing herself as a remarkable talent. However, her career faced a setback during the military coup of 1964 when she was dismissed from the station.
Lacerda's versatility shone through her extensive work in film and television, but she gained widespread acclaim for her performances in telenovelas. Notable roles include Sarita Leão in "Minha Doce Namorada" (1971), Urânia Camará in "O Espigão" (1974), and Alzira Noronha in "Anjo Mau" (1976). Her portrayal of Melinda Montenegro in "Sinal de Alerta" (1978) further solidified her status in the industry. After an eight-year break from acting, she made a striking comeback in 1987’s "Tudo ou Nada," where she played the feisty Ema Barroso.
In 2000, Vanda lent her voice to the short film "Valsa Número Seis," marking her final performance before her passing on July 14, 2001. Renowned for her talent and dedication, Vanda Lacerda remains an iconic figure in Brazilian arts, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire future generations.
