Joana Isabel de Alvim Ribeiro, born on March 25, 1992, in Lisbon, Portugal, is a prominent actress and model known for her diverse roles in film and television. Raised in a creative family with an engineer father and a veterinarian mother, Ribeiro began her education at the Luís Madureira School in Alfragide before completing her secondary studies in Lisbon. Although she initially pursued architecture, her passion for the performing arts led her to shift her focus to acting. After signing with Lisbon Elite, she made her debut in the short film "Herança do Silêncio" (Silent Inheritance).

Ribeiro gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Mariana Côrte-Real in the popular telenovela "Dancin' Days," which marked a significant turning point in her career. She further showcased her talent in another telenovela, "Sol de Inverno" (Winter Sun), and was cast as Susan Delgado in the ill-fated 2020 Amazon Prime series adaptation of "The Dark Tower."

Her international career includes notable appearances in films such as Terry Gilliam's "The Man Who Killed Don Quixote" (2018), Marco Pontecorvo's "Fatima" (2020), where she depicted Our Lady of Fátima, Antoine Fuqua's "Infinite" (2021), and the 2022 series "The Man Who Fell to Earth" by Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet. In recognition of her talent, Ribeiro was named one of the ten "Shooting Stars" at the Berlin Film Festival in 2020, solidifying her status as a rising star in the industry.
