Marlon David Jackson, born on March 12, 1957, in Gary, Indiana, is an accomplished American singer, dancer, and entertainer, best known as a member of the iconic group the Jackson 5. He is the sixth child of Joseph Jackson, a steel mill worker and musician, and Katherine Jackson, a devout Jehovah's Witness. Marlon shares a deep bond with his younger brother Michael, who was born just seventeen and a half months later; he often viewed Michael as a surrogate for his lost twin, Brandon.

Marlon’s musical journey began in earnest in 1964 when he teamed up with Michael and their brothers Tito, Jackie, and Jermaine to form the Jackson 5. Their mother, Katherine, contributed harmonies, while their father, Joe, directed their rehearsals. The group quickly achieved success, winning various singing competitions and eventually signing with Motown Records in 1969. Known as “the dancingest Jackson,” Marlon dazzled audiences with his energetic performances, contributing lead vocals on several hits and playing percussion instruments.

In 1975, the Jackson 5 transitioned to Epic Records, rebranding themselves as The Jacksons after discovering their original name had been trademarked. They enjoyed continued success, highlighted by their performance at the Motown 25 special in 1983 and their 1997 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In addition to his group work, Marlon pursued a solo career, releasing his album Baby Tonight in 1987. Today, he is also dedicated to promoting peace and unity through the Study Peace Foundation, reflecting his commitment to making a difference in the world.
