**Biography of Jenny Hecht**

Born on July 30, 1943, in New York City, Jenny Hecht was the daughter of Ben and Rose Hecht from Nyack, New York. By the time she was eight, Jenny had already embarked on her journey as an actress, eventually becoming a celebrated performer in both acting and singing. Over a career that lasted more than twenty years, her remarkable talent illuminated stages and screens, earning her a legendary status.

Jenny trained under the esteemed Constance Collier and attended The Dwight Junior School in Englewood, New Jersey, followed by the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. Her career highlights included a notable appearance on "The Ed Sullivan Show" in 1951, portraying Helen Hayes in "The Helen Hayes Story," and later sharing the stage with Hayes herself.

In 1952, she starred in the film β€œActor's and Sin,” alongside Eddie Albert, and made her Broadway debut in "MID-SUMMER" from 1953 to 1954. Other significant roles included playing Anne Frank in 1959 and the title character in "SIMONE" from 1959 to 1962. Jenny was also featured in productions like "THE PLOUGH AND THE STARS" and participated in experimental theatre with The Living Theatre, where she performed in influential works such as "ANTIGONE" and "PARADISE NOW."

Tragically, Jenny Hecht's promising career was cut short when she passed away from a drug overdose on March 25, 1971, at the age of 27, shortly after completing her role in "The Jesus Trip." Her passion for social change and the arts left a lasting impact on those who knew her.
