Neelam Kothari
Neelam Kothari is a former Indian actress who later found her niche as a prominent jewellery designer. Born in Hong Kong, she spent her formative years in Bangkok before returning to Mumbai for vacations, where she caught the eye of filmmaker Ramesh Behl. This chance encounter led her to debut in the film *Jawaani* in 1984, although the movie did not perform well at the box office.
Her breakthrough came in 1986 with the film *Ilzaam*, where she starred alongside fellow newcomer Govinda. The duo became a popular pair, appearing together in several successful films throughout the late 1980s, including *Love 86* (1986), *Khudgarz* (1987), *Hatya* (1988), *Taaqatwar* (1989), and *Do Qaidi* (1989). In 1987, she further cemented her status in the industry with a role in the hit movie *Aag Hi Aag*, sharing the screen with Dharmendra and Chunky Pandey.
Kothari continued to act in films into the 1990s, including *Ek Ladka Ek Ladki* alongside Salman Khan, which received mixed reviews. Her later work includes a memorable cameo as herself in the iconic 1998 film *Kuch Kuch Hota Hai*, where she portrayed a VJ. In 1999, she appeared in the ensemble family drama *Hum Saath-Saath Hain: We Stand United*. After her acting career, Neelam transitioned successfully into jewellery design, showcasing her artistic talent and entrepreneurial spirit.
