Mischa Anne Marsden Barton, born on January 24, 1986, is a talented British-American actress known for her work in film, television, and theater. Barton's acting journey began on stage, with notable performances in Tony Kushner's "Slavs!" and James Lapine's "Twelve Dreams" at New York's Lincoln Center. She made her screen debut in 1995 with a guest role on the soap opera "All My Children" and lent her voice to Betty Ann Bongo in Nickelodeon’s animated series "KaBlam!" from 1996 to 1997.

Barton gained recognition in the late '90s with her significant role in "Lawn Dogs" (1997), alongside Sam Rockwell, and appearances in notable films such as the romantic comedy "Notting Hill" (1999) and M. Night Shyamalan's thriller "The Sixth Sense" (1999). Her portrayal of Marissa Cooper in the hit Fox series "The O.C." (2003–2006) propelled her to fame, earning her two Teen Choice Awards and being dubbed the "It Girl" of 2003 by Entertainment Weekly.

After starring in films like "St Trinian's" (2007) and "Assassination of a High School President" (2008), she returned to television in the short-lived series "The Beautiful Life" (2009). Barton revived her stage career in 2012 with "Steel Magnolias" and appeared in "Bhopal: A Prayer for Rain" (2014).
