Jayasudha
Jayasudha, originally named Sujatha, was born on December 17, 1958, in Madras, Tamil Nadu. She is related to the renowned actress and director Vijaya Nirmala, her aunt. Jayasudha made her acting debut at the tender age of twelve, portraying Jamuna's daughter in the Telugu film *Pandanti Kapuram* (1972). Her early career saw her working with acclaimed director K. Balachander, who cast her in a minor role in the Tamil film *Arangetram*, where she starred alongside Kamal Haasan. Over the years, she featured in several Tamil films directed by Balachander, such as *Sollathaan Ninaikkiren* (1973), *Naan Avanillai* (1974), and *Apoorva Raagangal*. To avoid confusion with another actress named Sujatha, she adopted the stage name Jayasudha.
Her rising popularity soon caught the attention of Telugu film producers, leading to numerous significant roles. Her breakthrough as a leading actress came with the Telugu film *Lakshmana Rekha* (1975), but it was her starring role in *Jyothi*, a remake of the Hindi film *Mili* featuring Jaya Bhaduri, that solidified her status as a prominent star in Telugu cinema. Jayasudha was often regarded as a successor to the legendary Telugu actress Savitri, known for her ability to tackle a variety of strong roles. Her talent earned her the title "Sahaja Nati," which translates to "natural/realistic actress."
