Nicolas Godin

Nicolas Godin, born on December 25, 1969, in Paris, Île-de-France, is a renowned French musician celebrated for his role in the influential music duo Air. Godin pursued architectural studies at the École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Versailles, where he met Jean-Benoît Dunckel, who would later become his collaborative partner in music.

Before the formation of Air, Godin was a member of the band Orange alongside Dunckel and several other musicians. Their collaboration traces back to their teenage years in the 1980s. Contrary to popular belief, the name "Air" does not symbolize "Amour, Imagination, Rêve" (Love, Imagination, Dream), but rather reflects the light, ethereal quality of their music.

Godin's journey as an artist began when he produced "Modulor Mix," a tribute to architect Le Corbusier, which appeared on the Source Lab compilation in 1995, marking his initial foray into music production. Following this, he and Dunckel crafted a series of maxi singles for the Source label, including "J'ai Dormi Sous L'eau" and "Le Soleil Est Près De Moi."

Air's breakthrough came with the release of their debut album, *Moon Safari*, in 1998. The album, featuring hit singles like "Sexy Boy" and "All I Need," achieved Platinum status in the UK and Gold in France.

In 2015, Godin ventured into solo work with *Contrepoint*, inspired by Bach, and continued to explore his artistry with the soundtrack for the series *A Very Secret Service*. His second solo album, *Concrete and Glass*, was released on January 24, 2020, further showcasing his diverse musical talents.
