Janusz Zaorski

Janusz Zaorski, born on September 19, 1947, is a distinguished Polish film director, screenwriter, and actor known for his contributions to the cinema of moral anxiety, a significant movement in Polish film. With a career that spans several decades, Zaorski has primarily focused on crafting psychological dramas, comedies, and engaging television series.

He completed his education at the National Film School in Łódź, graduating in 1969. His directorial debut came in 1970, marking the beginning of a prolific career in filmmaking. In 1987, Zaorski was appointed chairman of the Polish Federation of Film Societies, reflecting his influence within the Polish film community. His leadership extended to his role as art director of the Film Group "Dom" starting in 1988.

Zaorski has also held significant positions in various film-related committees, including the Cinematography Committee from 1987 to 1989, and served as president of the Radio & Television Committee from 1991 to 1992. He was the president of The National Council of Radio Broadcasting and Television from 1994 to 1995, showcasing his commitment to media governance. Additionally, he is a member of the European Film Academy, further solidifying his standing within the international film landscape.
