Edwyn Collins

Edwyn Stephen Collins, born on 23 August 1959 in Edinburgh, Scotland, is a renowned musician, producer, and record label owner. He gained fame as the lead vocalist of the influential post-punk group Orange Juice, which he co-founded in the late 1970s. Following the band's disbandment in 1985, Collins embarked on a successful solo career, highlighted by his iconic 1994 hit single "A Girl Like You," which achieved international acclaim.

In February 2005, Collins faced a life-altering challenge when he suffered two cerebral haemorrhages that led to aphasia, requiring extensive recovery time. He made a remarkable comeback in 2007, with his journey chronicled in the 2014 documentary "The Possibilities Are Endless."

Collins co-established the indie label Postcard Records in 1979, which played a vital role in the Scottish music scene. In 2011, he launched a second label, Analogue Enhanced Digital. Beyond music, he has ventured into illustration, television acting, and production. His contributions to the industry earned him the prestigious Ivor Novello Award for Inspiration in 2009.

During his formative years, Collins lived in Dundee after his father became a lecturer at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design. He began his musical journey with the Nu-Sonics in 1976, which later transformed into Orange Juice. The band released several albums, including their notable works "You Can't Hide Your Love Forever" and "Rip It Up." Despite their eventual split, Collins's impact on music continues to resonate.
