**Matt Spease: A Multifaceted Filmmaker**
Matt Spease, born on September 5, 1973, in Sterling, Illinois, is a notable figure in independent filmmaking, recognized for his compelling performance in the 2001 film *Evil On Queen Street*. Spease not only starred in but also directed nearly all of his films from 2001 to 2008, showcasing his versatility in the industry.
Growing up, Matt faced challenges typical of his stature, often encountering bullies. In response, he took up martial arts, mastering Jeet Kune Do and Kenpo, skills that would later influence his film roles. His journey into filmmaking began in 1988 with the introduction of a camcorder into his home, where he experimented with various short films, spanning both horror and comedy.
In 1996, he embarked on a more serious project, *Evil On Queen Street*, a 40-minute horror short that took five years to complete. Throughout this period, he penned multiple scripts, including an ambitious *Spider-Man* adaptation, although he faced rejection from major studios.
With the rise of the internet, Matt transitioned to showcasing his work online, launching Matt Spease Productions. Among his early projects was a humorous *Star Wars* spoof titled *The Stooges - Episode V: Die, Stooges, Die*. Though it was a modest success, he sought to create films more aligned with his artistic vision.
In 2003, he rebranded his company as Dark Night Films, reviving *Eve Of Terror*, which ultimately premiered as *The Chameleon Killer*. This film, featuring Violet Flame in the lead role, was met with considerable acclaim and solidified his reputation within the indie film community.
