Maksim Munzuk

Maksim Monguzhukovich Munzuk (Russian: Макси́м Монгужу́кович Мунзу́к; born September 15, 1912, though some sources cite May 2, 1910 – July 28, 1999) was a prominent Tuvan actor and a key figure in the establishment of regional theatre in Tuva. He gained international recognition for his portrayal of the title character in Akira Kurosawa's acclaimed film "Dersu Uzala," which showcased his exceptional talent to a broader audience.

Beyond acting, Munzuk was a multifaceted artist, taking on roles as a director, singer, composer, and educator. His diverse contributions to the arts included a significant focus on collecting and preserving Tuvan musical folklore, enriching the cultural landscape of his homeland.
