Manuel Padilla Jr.
Manuel Padilla Jr. gained fame as a child actor during the 1960s, often portraying Mexican or Indian characters in various television westerns, including "Rawhide," "Bonanza," and "Gunsmoke." He became well-known for his role as 'Jai', a native boy in the popular TV series "Tarzan," where he appeared alongside Ron Ely in numerous episodes. In addition, he had a recurring role in the series "The Flying Nun," featuring Sally Field.
As he transitioned into adulthood, Padilla continued to make his mark in cinema, appearing in significant films such as "The Great White Hope," "American Graffiti," "A Man Called Horse," and "Scarface," among others.
Tragically, Padilla passed away at the age of 52, shortly after attending the Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona, California, in January 2008. His unexpected death marked the end of a remarkable journey that began in childhood, leaving behind a legacy in television and film that continues to be remembered.
