Easwari Rao
Easwari Rao is an accomplished Indian actress known for her work across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam cinema, especially during the 1990s.
Hailing from Rajahmundry, she now resides in Chennai and is married to the filmmaker L. Raja. Easwari made her acting debut in the little-known Tamil film Kavithai Paadum Alaigal in 1990, which unfortunately never saw a theatrical release. Her significant breakthrough came with the 1997 film Raman Abdullah, directed by Balu Mahendra, which opened up numerous opportunities for her. Despite receiving many offers, she became discerning in her choices and notably declined a role in Koottaali, feeling it was too glamorous for her liking. Easwari showcased her talent in Guru Paarvai (1998), directed by Manoj Kumar, where she shared the screen with renowned actors Prakash Raj, Khushboo, and Anju Aravind. Additionally, she was cast in Bharathiraja's Siragugal Murivadhilai opposite Napoleon, although the project was ultimately abandoned before production commenced. In the 2000 Tamil film Appu, she played the role of Prasanth's sister. Currently, Easwari is primarily active as a character artist in Telugu films. She made a notable return to Tamil cinema with her 2018 role in Kaala, portraying Selvi, the wife of the legendary Rajinikanth.
