Andrej Hryc

Andrej Hryc, widely known as Andy Hryc, was born on November 30, 1949, in Bratislava, Slovakia. He is a multifaceted Slovak actor and businessman, recognized for his contributions to both the arts and public service. After graduating from the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava in 1971, Hryc commenced his acting career at the State Theater in Košice, where he performed until 1978. He then worked as a freelancer before joining the Bratislava New Stage ensemble in 1981, where he also took on the role of general director for a time.

Hryc's career extends beyond acting; he ventured into politics after the Gentle Revolution and became a founding member of the HZDS party. He established Radio Twist in 1991, serving as its director until 2004, and later held the position of Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors at the station. His notable television roles include portraying Major Terazky in the acclaimed Czech series "Black Barons" (2004), directed by Juraj Herz.

With over 50 films to his credit, Hryc has starred in productions such as "Furious Max," "Friend in the Rain," and "Rivers of Babylon." He is also a prominent figure in Slovak dubbing and has co-produced the musical "Hamlet" in both Prague and Bratislava. A dedicated philanthropist, Hryc organized numerous charitable initiatives through Radio Twist and served as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Seychelles in Slovakia. Today, he continues to perform as a musical actor at the Nová scéna theater in Bratislava and the Prague Music Theater in Karlín.
