Dieudonné Kabongo (1950 – October 11, 2011) was an influential Congolese-born Belgian comedian, actor, musician, and humorist, recognized for being the first comedian of African descent to gain significant acclaim in Belgium. Born in Katanga, now part of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kabongo moved to Belgium in 1970, initially pursuing a degree in electromechanical engineering in Virton before turning his focus to the performing arts.

Kabongo's career took off in the 1980s, highlighted by his joint victory with actor Mirko Popovitch for the First Prize at the Festival International du Rire de Rochefort in 1984. His filmography includes notable performances in "Identity Pieces" (1998), the acclaimed "Lumumba" (2000) directed by Raoul Peck, and "Le Couperet" (2005) directed by Costa-Gavras. His talent earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the Magritte Awards for his role in "The Invader," and in 2010, he received a lifetime achievement award from the Africa Filmfestival, recognizing his contributions to cinema.

Tragically, Kabongo's life was cut short when he collapsed on stage during a performance at a cultural center in Jette, Brussels, on October 11, 2011, at the age of 61. His legacy endures as a pioneering figure in the world of comedy and film.
