James Francis Gunn Jr., born on August 5, 1966, is a distinguished American filmmaker, entrepreneur, and businessman. He launched his career in the mid-1990s as a screenwriter, making his debut with Troma Entertainment's cult classic, *Tromeo and Juliet* (1996). His directorial debut came with the horror-comedy *Slither* (2006), which showcased his unique style and flair for blending genres. Gunn gained widespread acclaim in the superhero genre with *Super* (2010) and the blockbuster hit *Guardians of the Galaxy* (2014), followed by its sequel, *Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2* (2017). He continued to redefine the superhero narrative with *The Suicide Squad* (2021) and *Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3* (2023), with another superhero film, *Superman*, set for release in 2025.

In 2022, Gunn was appointed co-chairman and co-CEO of DC Studios by Warner Bros. Discovery, alongside producer Peter Safran.
