Nicoletta Braschi, born on April 14, 1960, is a prominent Italian actress and producer, renowned for her collaborations with her husband, actor and director Roberto Benigni. Hailing from Cesena, she pursued her passion for acting at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Rome, where she first crossed paths with Benigni in 1980. Their artistic partnership took flight in 1983 with the comedy film Tu Mi Turbi ("You Upset Me").

Braschi made notable appearances in two films by acclaimed director Jim Jarmusch, Down by Law and Mystery Train, further establishing her presence in the film industry. However, it was her collaborations with Benigni that truly marked her career. In 1992, she starred in Johnny Stecchino, portraying the girlfriend of a mobster, which became a massive success in Italy. Her performance in the 1997 film La Vita è Bella (Life is Beautiful), where she played the wife of an Italian Jew imprisoned in a concentration camp, garnered international acclaim and showcased her exceptional talent.

For her role in Life is Beautiful, Braschi received a nomination for a Screen Actors Guild award and won a David di Donatello award, Italy's prestigious film honor. In 2002, she served on the jury of the Berlin Film Festival. After a brief hiatus, she returned to the stage in 2010 with the play "Tradimenti," reaffirming her versatility as a performer.
