Laurent Terzieff (27 June 1935 – 2 July 2010) was a prominent French actor renowned for his evocative performances on stage and screen. Born in Toulouse to artist parents—ceramist Marina and sculptor Jean Terzieff, who immigrated from Romania—he grew up immersed in the arts. His early fascination with philosophy and poetry led him to the theater, where he first showcased his talent in Roger Blin's production of Strindberg's *La Sonate des spectres*.

Terzieff made his theatrical debut in 1953 at the Théâtre de Babylone in Paris, starring in Eugène Ionesco's *Tous contre tous*. His breakthrough came in 1958 when he starred in Marcel Carné's *Tricheurs*, a film that explored the lives of existentialist youth. Over the years, he collaborated with notable directors such as Claude Autant-Lara, appearing in works like *Tu ne tueras point* (1961) and Henri-Georges Clouzot's *La prisonnière*, where he portrayed a manipulative artist.

His filmography includes significant roles in *Les Garçons* (1959), *Vanina Vanini* (1961), *Two Weeks in September* (1967) alongside Brigitte Bardot, *The Milky Way* (1969), and *The Desert of the Tartars* (1976). In television, he gained recognition for his role in the miniseries *Moses the Lawgiver* (1974). The 1980s saw him return to the stage, with performances in productions like *Rouge Baiser* and *Germinal*. His final film appearance was in *Mon petit doigt m'a dit* (2005). Terzieff passed away in Paris on July 2, 2010, from lung complications, leaving behind a legacy of impactful artistry.
