Hachiro Tako

Hachiro Tako was born in Sendai, located in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. As a child, he faced a significant challenge when he nearly lost the sight in his left eye due to an accident. Despite this adversity, Tako rose to prominence in the world of sports, capturing the title of professional flyweight boxing champion of Japan in 1962.

Following his boxing career, he transitioned into the entertainment industry, where he gained popularity as a comedian. His charisma and comedic talent led him to appear in various films, including the notable 1974 production "School of the Holy Beast" by Toei. Tako also made his mark on television, featuring in numerous commercials and dramas, further solidifying his presence in Japanese pop culture.

In addition to his performances, Hachiro managed a bar in the vibrant Golden Gai area of Shinjuku, reflecting his connection to the arts and nightlife. He was also part of Oniroku Dan's artistic collective, known as Oni Pro, which showcased a variety of talents.

Tragically, Hachiro Tako's life came to an untimely end when he drowned at a beach in Kanagawa Prefecture after experiencing a heart attack. His legacy, however, as both a champion boxer and a beloved entertainer, continues to resonate in Japan.
