j-hope
Jung Ho-seok, professionally recognized as j-hope, was born on February 18, 1994. A prominent figure in the South Korean music scene, he is a rapper, songwriter, record producer, and dancer affiliated with BigHit Music. j-hope is also celebrated as a member of the globally renowned boy band BTS.
In 2018, j-hope showcased his artistic individuality with the release of his debut solo mixtape, Hope World. The project garnered critical acclaim and made waves on the charts, reaching number 38 on the US Billboard 200, marking a significant milestone as the highest-charting album by a Korean solo artist at that time. He made history in 2019 by becoming the first BTS member to enter the Billboard Hot 100 as a solo artist, with his collaboration "Chicken Noodle Soup" featuring Becky G debuting at number 81.
His solo endeavors continued with the 2022 release of his first studio album, Jack in the Box, and in 2023, he dropped the single "On the Street" featuring J. Cole. In 2024, j-hope expanded his artistic reach with a six-part docuseries titled Hope on the Street, which was accompanied by the special album Hope on the Street Vol. 1.
In recognition of his contributions to the arts, he was honored in 2018 with the fifth-class Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit by the President of South Korea, alongside his BTS bandmates. Additionally, in 2020, he earned a full membership with the Korea Music Copyright Association.
