David Sage
David Sage, born on July 13, 1940, is a distinguished actor best known for his portrayal of Tarmin in the acclaimed “Star Trek: The Next Generation” episode titled “Violations,” which aired during the show's fifth season. Sage filmed his scenes over several days from October 29 to November 5, 1991, at Paramount Studios.
Throughout his career, Sage often took on roles as judges and political figures, showcasing his versatility in character acting. In 1991, he guest-starred in “Quantum Leap,” alongside notable actors Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell, and made appearances on “L.A. Law” in 1986, alongside a talented cast that included Bibi Besch and Denise Crosby. His role as Senator Walter in the popular series “Dallas” in 1988 further solidified his reputation as a skilled performer in roles of authority.
Sage's television journey began with an appearance in the 1983 episode of “The Greatest American Hero,” followed by roles in shows like “Hardcastle and McCormick,” “St. Elsewhere,” and “Falcon Crest,” where he often shared the screen with other notable actors. His extensive television credits also include appearances in “Hunter,” “Murder, She Wrote,” “Seinfeld,” and “The West Wing.”
His film credits are limited but notable, featuring a small role in “Galaxies Are Colliding” (1992) and a senator’s role in the comedy classic “The Birdcage” (1996).
Tragically, Sage's career was cut short by a massive stroke in early 2002. He currently resides in Van Nuys with his wife, Judy, and their beloved pets, Louie, Annie, and Christopher. At 84, he remains a respected figure in the acting community for his contributions to television and film.
