Taina Elg, born on March 9, 1930, in Helsinki, Finland, was a celebrated Finnish-American actress and dancer known for her contributions to stage, film, and television. Raised in Turku, Taina was the daughter of Åke Elg, a pianist, and Helena Dobroumova, who had Russian roots.

Elg gained recognition early in her career, clinching the Golden Globe Award for the Foreign Newcomer Award - Female in 1957. The following year, she received another Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture Actress in a Musical or Comedy for her role in "Les Girls," sharing the honor with co-star Kay Kendall.

In 1958, she was also nominated for a Golden Laurel as the Top New Female Personality, marking her rising status in Hollywood. Taina's talent was further acknowledged when she received a Tony Award nomination in 1975 for her role as Donna Lucia D'Alvadorez in the Broadway production of "Where's Charley?" She was also part of the original cast of "Nine," where she portrayed Guido Contini's mother.

From 1980 to 1981, Taina Elg took on the role of Nicole Bonard/Olympia Buchanan, the wife of Asa Buchanan, in the popular ABC soap opera "One Life to Live." Her diverse performances and contributions have left a lasting impact on the entertainment industry.
