Marjorie Lord, born Marjorie Wollenberg, was an accomplished American actress known for her work on both television and film. She gained prominence for her role as Kathy "Clancy" O'Hara Williams on The Danny Thomas Show and its sequel, Make Room for Granddaddy.
Lord began her acting career at a young age, making her Broadway debut in 1935 at just 16 years old in The Old Maid alongside Judith Anderson. Throughout her career, she appeared in various Broadway productions, including Signature, Little Brown Jug, and The Girl in the Freudian Slip.
In the same year as her debut, she was signed by RKO Radio Pictures. While performing in Springtime for Henry with Edward Everett Horton, she caught the attention of director Henry Koster, who signed her to a contract with Universal Studios. During her time there, Lord featured in six films and a serial titled The Adventures of Smilin' Jack. Her filmography includes notable wartime films, such as the 1943 mystery Sherlock Holmes in Washington, starring Basil Rathbone. She also showcased her talent in Westerns like Masked Raiders, Mexican Manhunt, and Down Laredo Way. In 1966, she appeared as Mrs. Martha Meade, the wife of Bob Hope’s character, in the comedy Boy, Did I Get a Wrong Number!
