Alice Lowe is a talented English actress and writer celebrated for her contributions to comedy. Best known for her work in the cult series Garth Marenghi's Darkplace and as the lead and co-writer of the 2012 film Sightseers, she has made a notable mark in the industry. In 2016, she took on the dual role of writer and director while also starring in the black comedy Prevenge, a project she undertook during her own pregnancy.

Born in Coventry, West Midlands, England, Lowe attended Kenilworth School before earning her degree in classics from King's College, Cambridge. During her time at university, she became deeply involved in the theater and comedic performances.

Lowe's career began in avant-garde theater, where she co-devised and performed in productions such as City Haunts, Snowbound, and Progress in Flying Machine alongside notable talents like Robert Webb and David Mitchell. Her collaboration with director Paul King led to appearances in both The Mighty Boosh and Garth Marenghi's Darkplace. In 2000, she earned a Perrier Award nomination for her role in Garth Marenghi's Fright Knight, and in 2001, she won acclaim for her performance in its sequel, Garth Marenghi's Netherhead.

Her television work includes roles in Channel 4’s Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, BBC’s My Life in Film, and a recurring part in Rob Brydon’s Annually Retentive, as well as appearances in various other shows. Lowe has also contributed to the music video for "Bastardo" by Charlotte Hatherley, directed by Edgar Wright, showcasing her versatility as an entertainer.
