Vinod Khanna (October 6, 1946 – April 27, 2017) was a prominent Indian actor and film producer renowned for his contributions to Bollywood. Throughout his illustrious career, he garnered two Filmfare Awards and established himself as a versatile performer. Beyond his cinematic achievements, Khanna also ventured into politics, serving as the Member of Parliament for Gurdaspur from 1998 to 2009 and again from 2014 until his passing in 2017, all while battling advanced bladder cancer.
Khanna's filmography includes a plethora of blockbuster hits, with standout performances in titles such as Mere Apne, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Gaddaar, Jail Yatra, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, and Amar Akbar Anthony. He started his career in 1968, initially taking on supporting or antagonistic roles before capturing audiences' hearts as the "angry young man" in Mere Apne and showcasing his talent in Achanak, which was inspired by the famous K. M. Nanavati case.
In 1982, at the zenith of his acting career, Khanna took a five-year break from films to pursue spiritual enlightenment under Osho Rajneesh.
