Olimpia Melinte
Olimpia Melinte was born on November 7, 1986, in Iasi, Romania, where her passion for acting blossomed from a young age. With the unwavering support of her parents, who nurtured her aspirations, she pursued formal training in the dramatic arts during high school and later at the Arts University "George Enescu" in Iasi, where she earned a master's degree. Her theatrical journey began at the National Theatre in Iasi, where she participated in various productions and aspires to return for a major Romanian project led by a talented young director.
Olimpia made her mark on the film industry with her leading role in the feature film "Cele ce plutesc," directed by Mircea Danieliuc, which earned her nominations at The Gopo Awards 2010 for Best Actress and Young Hope. She gained further acclaim for her performance in "Sette opere di misericordia," directed by Massimiliano and Gianluca de Serio, showcasing her ability to shine alongside seasoned international actors. This film received critical acclaim at prestigious festivals, including Locarno and Marrakech, and won her an acting award at the Bobbio Film Festival in Italy.
Continuing to forge her path, Olimpia collaborated with promising Romanian director Luiza Parvu on short films like "Draft" and "My Baby," and appeared in Florin Piersic Jr.'s "Killing Time" as well as Dan Chisu's comedy "Bucuresti NonStop." Additionally, she starred alongside Antonio de la Torre in "Canibal," directed by Manuel Martín Cuenca, which captivated audiences at major film festivals such as Toronto and San Sebastian in 2013.
