James Quinn McDonagh
James Quinn McDonagh was born in Ireland in 1967 and grew up immersed in the traditional lifestyle of the Irish Travellers. As a child, he traveled in a horse-drawn barrel-top wagon and often slept in a tent beside the road. To defend himself against bullying, both within and outside his community, he began boxing. However, at the age of sixteen, his family relocated to England, which interrupted what seemed to be a promising future in the sport.
Tragedy struck when a confrontation in London resulted in a man’s death, prompting the McDonagh family to flee back to Ireland. Unfortunately, the violent feud that ensued had devastating consequences, leaving James with serious injuries, witnesses to deaths, homes destroyed, and lives profoundly affected. To escape the ongoing violence, James eventually settled abroad, leaving his troubled past behind.
Today, James is married and the proud father of two sons, as well as a grandfather. He has distanced himself from his fighting days and has fully retired from the sport. Despite the hardships he faced, James Quinn McDonagh's journey reflects resilience and a commitment to protect his family from the shadows of his past.
