Jang Jin-young
Jang Jin-young (Hangul: 장진영; also spelled Chang Jin-yeong; June 14, 1974 – September 1, 2009) was a prominent South Korean actress and model, whose life was tragically cut short by stomach cancer after a courageous year-long fight.
Her career commenced in the modeling world, where she gained initial fame by competing in the 1993 Miss Korea pageant. Transitioning to acting, Jang made her film debut in 1998, quickly earning critical acclaim for her performances. She became a celebrated figure in the film industry, most notably becoming the second actress to win the Blue Dragon Film Award for Best Actress twice—first in 2001 for her role in "Sorum" and again in 2003 for "Singles."
By 2008, Jang Jin-young had risen to the ranks of the highest-paid actresses in South Korea, commanding around ₩400 million per film. Her contributions to cinema were marked by a series of notable works that showcased her versatility and talent, securing her a lasting legacy in the entertainment industry.
