Chesney Allen

Chesney Allen, born William Ernest Chesney Allen on April 5, 1893, was a celebrated English entertainer whose popularity soared during the Second World War era. He is best known for his iconic partnership with Bud Flanagan, forming the beloved duo Flanagan and Allen.

Allen embarked on his career in theatrical performance, making his debut in stock at the Wimbledon Theatre in London in 1912. His journey took a pivotal turn during World War I when he served in Flanders, where he forged a lasting friendship with fellow performer Bud Flanagan. In 1924, they united their talents, creating a captivating blend of music and comedy that resonated with audiences. Their collaboration led to a successful recording career, along with appearances in both film and television.
